Alice In Wonderland

Alice In Wonderland 150 Birthday Celebrations

Our Alice is 150 celebrations, on Friday 18 December, ended with a flourish, with the Mad Hattter’s Tea Party and what a finale!

The White Rabbit and the March Hare enjoyed a chat about all sorts of nonsense, before the Mad Hatter came along and got the party started.

Tremendous Thanks!

Our Alice in Wonderland event was a huge team effort from staff and pupils and thanks are due to all who helped, donated and participated in our Alice is 150 celebrations. Special thanks go to our Staff Wonderland Group of Mr Clark, Miss Findlay, Mrs Forster, Miss McNeil, Mr MacWhirter, Mrs Munro, Miss Scholes and Miss Tullis. Also, a big thank you to Mr Milne in the Technical department and S6 pupils Alex McLaren and Meg Daly. Thanks to the senior library assistants for all the hard work, who are Callum Stuart, Angus Whitton, Ciaran Longmuir and Lee Brooks and the S1/S2 Novelties Book Club, for helping out each day.

The Mad Hatter's Tea Party Friday - 18 December 2015

Lots of pupils, staff too, enjoyed fabulous food and drinks and met lots of curious characters too. Guests included the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat and Alice too, of course.

Party fun was provided by Tweedleddee and Tweedledum, who created a Spot the Difference activity, whilst the Cheshire Cat provided a riddles challenge. Visitors from the PE Department, Mr Sim and Mr Davis, demonstrated The Worm on the Caterpillar Crash Mat. Other activities on offer were chess, playing cards and dodging the pink flamingo balloons.

One the left are the winners of the Accessorise with Alice competition were Charlotte Durrant and Molly Green, both in S2. Their onesies and top hats proved to be a winning combination.

Alice In Literary Land - Wednesday 16 December 2015

Alice in Literary Land on Wednesday 18 December saw lots of pupils sitting on beanbags to listen to Alice read her adventures. There were two lively literary activities, which were very popular and included an Alice board game and the Curious Quiz. Thank you very much to Alice, the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter, aka Miss Scholes, Miss Findlay and Mr Clark for reading and creating all the activities. Our Alice is 150 celebrations began with a flourish! Well done to all pupils who participated in Literary Land and congratulations to Charlotte Durrant in S2, who won the Curious Challenge Quiz.

Alice In Numberland - Thursday 17 December 2015

Alice in Numberland on Thursday 17 December, was filled with pupils enjoying lots of puzzles, conundrums and challenges, all under the guidance of Tweedledee and Tweedledum, otherwise known as Mrs Munro and Miss McNeil, our maths whizzes.  Numberland brought out the competitive streak and all had great maths fun. Several pupils won top hats and these prizes were presented by the Mad Hatter. Well done to all who got ahead with these mathematical quizzes.
