Bake Me a Story – Golden National Non-Fiction Competition – Pupils’ Successes January 2019

We have started the New Year with some great news: three of our pupils have achieved outstanding successes in a national competition, all part of a Library and Home Economics collaboration. The Federation of Children’s Book Group’s Bake Me A Story Competition received 300 entries in total from all around the country and our pupils’ entries were included in the shortlist of 10.

Well done to Louise Orr in S2 for her shortlisted entry and congratulations to Sarah Fraser and Claudia Spencer in S3, whose entry: Wonder Book Cake, is the winner!

With Food and Festivals Around the World theme, the challenge was to design a birthday cake for the Federation of Children’s Book Groups 50th celebrations – the cake could be inspired by a favourite book, book character or author, or based on the Federation’s aim to bring children and books together. The judges were delighted with our pupils’ creativity and originality and publishers Hachette Publishing are sending prizes to Sarah and Claudia, plus copies of Nadiya’s Bake Me A Story: World Book Day Book to give to all pupils who entered the competition.
