Book Week Scotland 2017 – Events

Book Week Scotland 2017 begins on Monday 27 November

Elgin Academy is joining in with this week-long celebration of books and reading, with a packed programme for all in school.

Our week includes:

Tuesday 28 November: Sell Scottish Books panel: with Mr Clark, Miss McNeil, Mr Meisner and S6 students. Come and hear our staff & senior students. You vote them off and vote for the winner. In the Library at Lunchtime

Wednesday 29 November: Big Book Launch of NOURISH! The S3 EA Cook Book. In the school hall from 6.30- 8.00pm. Enjoy samples from the book. Buy the book and get it signed in the library. Watch demos in the HE kitchens. Meet the authors. Enjoy an unforgettable evening.

Thursday 30 November: Two Elgin Schools Elgin Spice As Twice with Workshop with ‘The Original Spice Girl’ Writer, broadcaster & food expert. Ghillie Basan at Elgin High School.  Sharing cultures, travel, food and making connections between food, stories and our two schools!

Thursday 30 November:  Reading Lunch:  Make sure you bring a book & enjoy a Book Feast in the Library at Lunchtime. Special Treat: try our Food in Fiction Samples. Made by Novelties Book Club with Food in Fiction samples for all.

Friday 1 December: Our annual and very popular Inter-House Book Quiz. Can the staff team be beaten? Music, tartan and books. Make sure you are there to support the teams. 6 teams in a Quick-Fire Quiz with Mr McWhirter as the Quiz Master

All Week: Staff Comfort Book Selfies: Staff have chosen and posed with a book which is a comfort read/nourishes them. Which one would you read?

As well as S1 and S2 challenges, film club and senior student activities, we aim to be buzzing about books more than usual!
