Book Week Scotland

Book Week Scotland 2016 began on Monday 21 November and Elgin Academy is joining in this week-long celebration of books and reading with a packed programme with for all in school.

Brand New Book to Film Club, began on Monday, with the film Alice in Through The Looking Glass. From 3.30pm, in the library, with popcorn too.

Itsy Bitsy Book Bits is not to be missed. Teachers Ms O’Reilly, Mr Davies and Mrs Reynolds will each read from the new Wimpy Kid book (which has been signed by the author) at lunchtimes Tuesday –Thursday.

Staff Tweeting about Books – Staff’s favourite or current books will be tweeted all week for Book Week Scotland. Look for them on @LibraryatEA.

Staff Selfies on display. What are they reading? Which book would you choose? These have to be seen to be believed! This is our Book Week Scotland Dare To Staff.

Christmas Book Fair all week in the library. Get ahead and get your Christmas shopping planned.Lots of top titles, brilliant bestsellers and fantastic Christmas presents.

Bestselling author Sara Sheridan will be in school on Monday 21st, to work with S4 girls, as part of our Girls Out Loud: confidence through literacy project.

The exciting finish to the week is THE BIG INTER-HOUSE BOOK QUIZ on Friday  with 6 teams in a Quick-Fire Quiz. Hosted by Mr McWhirter and led by House Leaders. Can the staff team be beaten? Can Gordon House make it a hat trick? We shall have music, tartan, books and fun. Names of the house teams and the staff team will be revealed soon.

Plus, competitions, challenges and displays all week: S1 will be describing their books in 3 images and S2 pupils will be interviewing each other about their books. Let’s get buzzing about Book Week.
