Eco-Warriors and Authors4Oceans

This is an exciting new project with Mrs Shaw in the Biology department, pupils in our Whales & Dolphins Elective and the school Eco Committee too.

UK authors come together to tackle ocean plastics

50 of the UK’s best-known children’s authors and illustrators have joined forces to launch AUTHORS-4-OCEANS, a campaign to encourage both the book industry and young readers to ditch the plastic. Authors and illustrators including Sir Michael Morpurgo, Katherine Rundell, Chris Riddell, Jacqueline Wilson, Quentin Blake and Jackie Morris, have pledged support for Authors-4-Oceans, a campaign to bring together booksellers, publishers, literary festivals and young readers to find eco alternatives to the bags, straws, bottles and single use cutlery destroying our seas.

Our new lunchtime group of Eco Warriors met for the first time on 30 April.

Pupils will begin planning a sculpture of an endangered sea creature or seabird. From plastic rubbish! Research begins now & we’ll be looking especially at our own Moray Firth. Some desert island reading planned too #waterybooks @Authors4Oceans 📚💜
