Edinburgh International Book Festival Planned Trip August 2019 – Sign Up During May 2019

The Baillie Gifford Schools Programme for this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival arrived on the library desk on 25 April and… the post-it notes were out in force! What a fabulous line-up!

The booking opened on 29 April and click went our booking form. Fingers crossed that we are going this summer #teamEA

Last year, we participated in our first Edinburgh Book Festival trip which was packed full of fun, inspiring and challenging events for all pupils who attended.

During the Schools Programme, Charlotte Square Gardens is alive with young voices discussing books, writing, ideas and which flavour of ice-cream to enjoy – essentially making it the perfect school trip. All of our pupils last year testified to this!

This year, our planned trip to the Edinburgh Book Festival will be over two days, during the first week of the new term, 22 and 23 August. All events take place in the tented Book Festival village in Charlotte Square Gardens and along the west end of George Street, right in the heart of Edinburgh City. https://learning.edbookfest.co.uk/schools/baillie-gifford-schools-programme/

There will be 40 places, with 20 for BGE (new S2 & S3) and 20 for senior cohort (new S4 – S6).

The planned cost is £75 (tbc), to include 2 events at the Book Festival, travel, overnight accommodation and a t-shirt. This amount can be paid in instalments or in full, via the school I-Pay account. More information will be available on confirmation of a place on the trip.

If our pupils are interested in participating and would like to find out more about this fantastic opportunity, follow Isla and Louise’s example and please see either Mrs Toonen or Mrs Bodiam by Friday 17 May to sign up.
