European Week of Languages: EAVision Song Contest 25 September 2019

The Modern Languages department and the Library created a packed programme for all in school for the week beginning 23 September to celebrate the benefits of language learning.

One of the week’s highlights was our annual and very popular EAVision Song Contest, which was held on Wednesday 25 September, in the library at lunchtime. Performers singing in different languages, judges speaking in a variety of languages and everyone learning… all meant that no one could miss this annual highlight on the @TeamElginAcad calendar.

Matthew Hamilton in S6 was our compere and our judges were Mrs Hendry, Mrs Walker, Mr Hume, Miss Carter & Mr Davidson. They gave their comments in German, Spanish, French & Italian.

Ana Roko in S6 sang in Fijian and played guitar and what an incredible performance!

Callum Robson in S3 sang first, in French and received huge cheers from the audience.

There was beautiful singing in Italian from Dea Nunag and Louise in S3. All of which meant a difficult task ahead for our judges.

While the judges deliberated, the audience was treated to a French version of Zombie by The Cranberries from Mrs Munro, one of our Depute Heads.

The winner of the 2019 EAVision Song Contest is Ana Roko!

Prizes were awarded by Mr Lestienne, PT of Modern Languages.

Congratulations to Ana and to all our contestants – Louise, Dea and Callum – in this year’s Modern Languages and Library collaboration. This event is hugely popular and a great time was had by all #teamEA.

We have to salute our heroes: the pupil tech team .

Two of them, Josh & Cameron, are also pupil library assistants and the whole team has worked so hard for the EAVision European Week of Languages event.

Huge thanks to them for helping to ensure the event was a success.
