International Women’s Day 2018

International Women’s Day – Thursday 8 March

International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements and is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and is a worldwide event, held on 8 March every year to celebrate women’s and girls’ achievements. It aims to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women and girls who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

We are marking the day with a series of library events culminating in a special lunchtime event on Thursday 8 March in the library.

Our Girls Who Read Succeed event will see staff and pupils sharing books which inspired, ignited ideas and helped them to succeed.

The library has also been sharing our staff’s book recommendations on Twitter @LibraryatEA and has a display of books featuring strong female characters We have had a writing competition running all week, asking pupils to write about extraordinary women in their own lives.
