Moray Minds Mental Health Ambassadors: Nicola Morgan Event 27 March 2019

Our S3 Moray Minds Mental Health Ambassadors will reap the rewards of their hard work on 27 March, when Nicola Morgan headlines the main event for their project. Our keynote speaker has a rich knowledge of and understanding of stress, anxiety and other Mental Wellbeing issues for young people, along with a wealth of strategies to address them. Moray School Librarians, together with school delivery teams and partners from NHS Grampian and Moray Council Engagement Team, have developed a project which will continue to improve support for young people in Moray, by giving access to resources and strategies around managing stress and anxiety.

Mrs Munn, librarian at Forres Academy and Milnes High School dropped the Moray Minds lanyards off on 19 March and Josh and Hannah were first to try them on.

On Wednesday 27 March, the Moray West Event will be held at Elgin Academy between 10am and 12noon and will involve staff, pupils and parents from four secondary schools.  We look forward to welcoming them to EA. This project has created opportunities for our young people to develop as Mental Health Ambassadors and our S3 pupils have had the opportunity to exercise leadership and creativity in raising awareness of Mental Wellbeing issues with their peers. They are looking forward to continuing their work and to developing their understanding of Mental Wellbeing issues and to sharing effective strategies with our school community.

Each school will benefit from a take away resource pack for their respective flourish areas, compiled by the NHS Grampian Mental Health Team.  In addition, Moray School Librarians will provide a ‘virtual toolbox’ of shared electronic resources to assist the Mental Health Ambassadors spread their wellbeing message.  It is hoped the project will leave a legacy of resources and informed individuals who can then pass the baton to like-minded peers for future expansion of the project.  Follow the journey on Twitter @MorayMinds
