The Scottish Children’s Book Awards 2016: Ghost Tour

On the 30 November, the group participated in a ghost tour of Elgin with a guide, which provided stimuli for their own creative writing.

We all went on a ghost tour of Elgin with Mr Stuart Mackenzie, our guide. We visited places that were rumoured to have had a haunted past, such as a room in an old dance hall. This was said to be haunted and the owners’ dog would refuse to go into it. People visiting had a strange feeling about it. Thunderton House is rumoured to be haunted by Bonnie Prince Charlie, after he became ill whilst staying there. Our group found this ghost and history tour to be a good motivation for our own creative writing.
