World Book Day 7 March – Plans Go Live on 26 February 2019

World Book Day is on Thursday 7 March and a day of events and activities is planned to celebrate stories and to encourage a love of reading.

We will DROP EVERYTHING AND READ for 15 minutes and we will all ‘down tools’ for 15 minutes to enjoy our reading across the school.

An exciting event is planned for lunchtime in the library and promises to be a memorable one. The HEROES & VILLAINS IN JUST A MINUTE CHALLENGE will see a number of well-known contestants on the panel and they  will be challenged to speak for one minute without hesitation, deviation or repetition on any subject that comes up on the cards. All are looking forward to seeing staff & pupils as Batman, Robin, Captain Marvel, The Riddler, Cruella de Vil, Deadpool, Harley Quinn, Thor and a Member of the Court of Owls. All hosted by our own Superhero Mr McWhirter.  There will be a prize for the best costume too.

From Monday, pupils & staff are encouraged to recommend a book and to fill up the library book blackboard with a book that has made them think WOW! What makes it have the WOW factor?

Pupils can pick up a World Book Day book token from the library to take to a local bookseller and can use it to pick one of ten free books. Or, if they’d rather, they can use it to get £1 off any book or audio book costing over £2.99 too.

Giving out World Book Day book tokens feels like its Christmas! Offering gifts & seeing happy smiles. All at the library desk.

Lots ahead to celebrate books and reading.
