Author Visit – Claire McFall – Scottish Teenage Book Prize 2017 Winner

 in School

We are delighted to welcome the winner of the inaugural Scottish Teenage Book Prize 2017, Claire McFall, to school onThursday, the 16th of March. Claire has already been named as one of the most influential writers of teen fiction in Scotland and is the author of three novels. Her most recent novel, Black Cairn Point, was published in 2015, with the Scotsman newspaper singling Claire out as “one of the most fearless voices for Young Adult fiction in Scotland”, which they described as “expertly handled … never less than gripping, constantly surprising, and with a truly shocking finale”. This is the novel that netted Claire the top prize and which has had her fans in Elgin Academy hooked. Claire will be talking to one group of S3 pupils about her books. She will then work with the S3 group which has been shadowing the Scottish Teen Book Prize 2017 and will help them to develop their creative writing skills. We are honoured that Claire McFall has agreed to visit us and meet her many awe-struck fans in school – both pupils and staff. There are books for sale all week and these will be signed by Claire during her visit.
