National Poetry Day 2017

National Poetry Day 2017

Freedom is this year’s theme National Poetry Day and our display at the library door was full of poems.

S1 poems are on display in the library and all are fantastic to read!  Have a look for all the Poems on Classroom Doors and enjoy reading them!

Have you seen the Staff Poems in the library? All part of the Staff Poetry Competition and guaranteed to get us buzzing about poetry!  Mr Meisner, from the PE Department, will judge the staff poems and the winner and runners-up will be announced on Friday 29 September. Mr Clark, English department, wrote a poem called Free From. Mrs Stewart from the Modern Languages department has written one called Freedom and very colourful it is too. Mrs Forster, a previous winner has written a poem and Mr Lestienne has won the Staff Poetry Competition twice. Read Not a Number & tell us if he should win again. Mr MacDonald enjoyed writing his poem for the Staff Poetry Competition and we even had an anonymous entry. Mr Anonymous and his Poem! Mr MacWhirter really, really wants to win the Staff Poetry Competition this year, with his poem Parental Freedom.

What a perfect start to National Poetry Day with S1 pupils sharing their poems. On our EAVision stage (which is set for tomorrow and the final event in European Week of Languages). S6 paired readers Julia, Martin, Maria & Rhona joined in with the poetry celebrations this morning. Class 1.1 are STARS and everyone enjoyed listening to their poems.

Enjoy our National Poetry Day 2017.
