National Poetry Day 2017

National Poetry Day 2017

Next Thursday, the 28 September, we are looking forward to joining in with the nationwide celebration of poetry for everyone, everywhere. This is a day when poetry slips off its dust-jacket and takes to the streets.  It is a nationwide celebration of poetry for everyone, everywhere: from bus-queues, cafes, hospitals, ice-rinks to waiting-rooms, zoos and schools!

This year the theme is Freedom and S1 pupils will share their poems in the library on Thursday. We shall have lots and lots of poems on classroom doors and together with our annual and popular staff poetry competition, we are planning to to create a buzz about poetry throughout the school.

Mr Meisner, from the PE Department will judge the staff poems and the winner and runners-up will be announced on Friday 29 September.

The poems are on display in the library and all are fantastic to read!
